PS4 Sales "Well Over" 25 Million
Official number likely to come during Sony's earnings briefing on October 29.
The PlayStation 4 continues to soar. SCE Worldwide Studios VP Michael Denny reveals in a new interview that the console's installed base has now reached "well over 25 million." Speaking with GamesIndustry International, Denny also said it's an "exciting time" to be a PlayStation owner.

"I don't think there's a better time to buy into PlayStation--PS4 particularly," he said. "Our installed base now is well over 25 million. That gives us a massive community of gamers, supported by a lot of new community features. We've got great games out there, more coming through. We're looking forward to 2016, it's an exciting time."
He did not announce an exact figure, but that's likely to come soon, as Sony's next earnings report is scheduled for October 29. The company typically updates sales figures during those events. As of June 30, the PS4 had shipped 25.3 million units.

Sony has admitted that, following the delay of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End into 2016, its first-party lineup is "a little sparse" for this holiday. That being the case, Sony has stressed the importance of third-party deals like the ones it has in place for games like Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Star Wars Battlefront.
