PS4 MLB 14: The Show Online Support Ending in June

With MLB 15: The Show coming soon, Sony announces plans to discontinue online support for last year's pro baseball game.

Sony has announced plans to discontinue online support for professional baseball game MLB 14: The Show across all platforms. Online support will officially come to an end for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita editions of the game on June 18, Sony writes on its support site.

With MLB 15: The Show releasing later this month, it's not altogether surprising that Sony would be focusing squarely on that game.

Sony regularly discontinues online support for legacy games to focus on new ones. But some gamers on Reddit aren't happy about online support coming to a close so soon after launch--in the case of the PS4 edition of MLB 14: The Show, it's just 13 months after release.

The online shutdown news was announced on PlayStation's UK website. GameSpot has followed up with a representative for Sony Computer Entertainment America, asking if the discontinuation also applies to North America.

MLB 15: The Show, which includes a raft of improvements over last year's game, launches March 31 across PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. See some screenshots in the gallery below.
