PS4 Games Still Coming From Microsoft's Newly Acquired Studio, InXile
The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep and Wasteland 3 are still multi-platform.
Earlier in November, Microsoft purchased independent role-playing-game studio InXile Entertainment. With the sudden announcement of the sale, the future of the studio's currently in-development PS4 titles hung in the balance. Brian Fargo, founder of InXile, has now addressed the situation.
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Fargo confirmed that its current PS4 games will still release for Sony's eighth-generation console, regardless of the studio now belonging to Microsoft. "We're still working through the issues, and where we've made commitments, we want to keep them," Fargo told the publication. "Everything literally remains the same."
When pressed further to specify whether games like The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep and Wasteland 3--two titles the company's already confirmed are coming to consoles--will still make their way to PS4, Fargo reassures that they will. "I know we said it was coming to console, in which case there's an asterisk because we haven't thought about it much," he said. "If we've said it's specifically coming to PS4 then it's coming to PS4." And what about Wasteland 3? "That's coming to PS4. Absolutely."
While Fargo's confirmed that both The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep and Wasteland 3 will remain multi-platform, there's no definitive console release date (or release window) for either game just yet.
In our review of The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep, we said that "while the game re-creates what we played in the 1990s, misty water-colored memories of hours spent with Eye of the Beholder are not enough to fix numerous design miscues, performance problems, and bugs."
