The console has been signed by the "top dogs" at Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog. It will be available to bid on from March 18 at 3 PM (PST) / 3 AM (GMT) / 2 PM (AEDT) at this eBay link.

"With only 12,300 consoles in existence, and one of only 150 in Australia, this very special edition grey 20th anniversary PS4 is made even more collectible as it bares signatures from video game royalty," Sony said in a statement.

Sophie Ryan, chief executive of Sony Foundation, added: "Alongside our partner PlayStation Australia, we are pleased to auction this unique item to help build much-needed youth cancer centres.

"Sadly too many young Australians with cancer are falling through the gaps of our medical system. We are working to change this and improve survival rates with care for 16 to 25 year olds."

The list of Naughty Dog developers that have signed the console can be found below.

  • Christophe Balestra: Co-president at Naughty Dog
  • Evan Wells: Co-president at Naughty Dog
  • Neil Druckmann: Creative Director (The Last of Us, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End)
  • Bruce Straley: Game Director (The Last of Us, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End)

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was first scheduled to launch in 2015, but was later moved to March 2016 and then again to April 2016 before its latest delay to May 2016.

The sequel is the final entry in the series that Naughty Dog plans to develop, and the last one to feature Nathan Drake in the lead role.
