PS4 bug corrupting save files
Sony aware of the issue and is currently investigating the matter.
Some PlayStation 4 owners are suffering lost progress and in some cases are unable to open apps as a result of a new error, fans wrote in a 36-page PlayStation forum thread.
Posts on this thread speak of an issue called Error CE-34878-0, which reportedly corrupts save files for games like FIFA 14, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, NBA 2K14, and Battlefield 4.
One user told Joystiq that he lost 30 hours of progress as a result of the bug. Forum members report that you can fix the issue by applying the latest patches available, but no catch-all fix appears to be available of yet.
A Sony representative told Eurogamer that, "We are aware of the cases and we appreciate your patience while we investigate."
Sony has sold more than 4.2 million PS4 consoles worldwide since the system originally launched in November 2013.
