PS2 Prince of Persia gets golden touch
First version of Ubisoft's fantasy adventure heads to the factory; other console editions due by year's end.
As part of its flurry of product-release announcements today, Ubisoft said that the PlayStation 2 master of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has gone gold. Also due on Xbox, PC, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance by year's end, Sands of Time is the latest title in the Prince of Persia fantasy-adventure series, which started back in 1989 on PCs and Apple IIs. (Jordan Mechner, creator of the original game, consulted on Sands of Time.)
Naturally, the graphics have improved dramatically since Prince of Persia's origin, and Sands of Time sports immensely detailed environments and panoramic landscapes. The game also has a deep plot, which follows the titular nobleman as he's dispatched on a perilous quest through a castle filled with puzzles, traps, and monsters.
