PS2 Get On Da Mic gets on da shelves

Eidos' rappin' karaoke game ships for the Sony console; Xbox version due out next week.

Would-be Eminems and Rakims can now hone their flow at home, thanks to the release of Get On Da Mic. The PlayStation 2 version of the game shipped today, according to publisher Eidos Interactive. Xbox and Gamecube versions of the games will be released at a later date. The game retails for $39.99 by itself, or $59.99 bundled with a Logitech microphone.

Rated "T" for Teen, Get On Da Mic aims to do for hip-hop what Karaoke Revolution did for teen pop. Using a microphone, players rap along to 40 new-jack and old-school hip-hop tracks. Players can pick from six up-and-coming rappers, who starting off by rapping in the mirror 8 Mile style and eventually build a recording empire of Jay-Z proportions.
