DreamCatcher Interactive has opened a new official Web site for Project Earth, its upcoming 3D real-time strategy game set in space. The new site contains a general description of the game, a brief background story, a gallery of screenshots, and some downloadable wallpaper images.

Project Earth, which is also known as Starmageddon, lets players command a group of spaceships sent to colonize a new solar system. Along the way, though, they meet an alien invasion force headed to Earth and must fight to protect their home planet. Like Sierra's groundbreaking real-time strategy game Homeworld, Project Earth lets players move their units freely through 3D space. The game has a streamlined interface, easily controlled camera views, and a deep storyline. Players must take into account both short-term tactical options and long-term strategic options in order to succeed. In addition to the single-player campaign, the game includes a multiplayer mode with support for up to eight players.

Project Earth is in development at Lemon Interactive and is scheduled for release this spring. For more information, visit the new official Web site and take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
