Project Cars Wii U Version Struggling, May Shift to Nintendo's Next Console
"Honestly, unless we really cut the looks back I think we're looking to Nintendo's next console."
The Wii U edition of racing game Project Cars did not launch alongside the console and PC editions earlier this month. Now it sounds like it may be quite some time before the Wii U version arrives--if it ever does.
Slightly Mad studio head Ian Bell wrote in the Project Cars forums that the Wii U edition is struggling at the moment. The current build of the game is "running at about 23FPS," Bell explained, noting that 720p is the best resolution the developer has been able to achieve.
Bell went on to say that Slightly Mad is hoping Nintendo makes some kind of hardware announcement at E3 next month. "We're awaiting/hoping for more of a hardware announcement at E3..." he said.
After a fan pointed this out in another forum post, Bell replied: "Honestly, unless we really cut the looks back I think we're looking to Nintendo's next console."
Little is known about Nintendo's NX (codename). The system was announced back in March, and we've since learned that, interestingly, it's not meant to be a replacement for the Wii U or 3DS.
GameSpot scored Project Cars an 8/10. Critic Austin Walker wrote: "Project Cars offers a different fantasy, one that's a little less attractive and a bit harder to enjoy: the fantasy of learning how to do something difficult."
