Now Playing: Project Cars 2 - Difficult But Rewarding Racing Gameplay

Microsoft has been saying for a while now that Xbox One X versions of multiplatform games will look and run better than any other console edition. While that remains to be seen, it looks like Project Cars 2 will at least look better running on Microsoft's Xbox One X.

Speaking to TrustedReviews, game director Stephen Viljoen said people playing on Xbox One X will see the best-looking version of the game on console. "I can't tell you exactly what all the various sliders will be at when you're on Xbox One X versus on PS4 Pro, but obviously they'll be higher [on Xbox One X], so there will be a significant, a noticeable improvement, because you have better hardware."

This is no surprise to hear, as the Xbox One X is the most powerful console ever made. According to Microsoft, it has 40 percent more power than the PS4 Pro.

While the PC edition of Project Cars 2 will look and perform the best if you have a beefy enough rig, Viljoen remarked that the Xbox One X is a "great piece of hardware." The developer is looking forward to "making the most of it," adding that Project Cars 2 will look and run better on Xbox One X than any other system out there apart from a high-end PC.

Project Cars 2 launches on September 22 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. GameSpot is meeting with the developers next week and we'll have more on the game soon. For now, you can check out all the cars and all the tracks through GameSpot's new videos below.

The Xbox One X launches in November, priced at $500. Internationally, it will go for £449, €499, CA$599, and AU$649.

I was having such a wonderful day - woke up, eat toast w/ strawberry jelly, read a picture book, went shopping w/ my friend Lindsay Lohan and won the mechanical bull riding championship. Then I clicked on this article and my wonderful day came to a crashing halt. Project Cars 2 will look better on the X1X - is this some sort of nightmare? I soon realized none of this matters since my CRT TV maxes out at 480i and I would not be able to tell the difference. So now I'm back having a wonderful day.

@moonco: Picture books provide a very effective reading experience for those heavily invested in the economization of time.

@moonco: My TV maxes out at 1080p, similarly I think I won't see an improvement worth $500

@girlusocrazy: Graphics, no or at least not too much. But games will perform better and should stay at a steady fps with fewer or no dips. Games with dynamic resolution should see an improvement across the board.

@dlCHIEF58: no that im disagreeing, but if you could afford it (you may be able to) wouldn't you buy a PC that can and a monitor? Would your view change then? :)

@itchyflop: It is not that I can't afford to, it is I CHOOSE not to. For one I am a Mac guy and no interest in a Windows machine, even for gaming. I enjoy tinkering around with old, esoteric machines like old Macs, Sun, Commodore, Silicon Graphics and other vintage computers as a hobby (and a business) but the answer is still no on the PC front for gaming.

@dlCHIEF58: wow that takes me back the garage in the late 70's and early 80's of computing!!

Fair enough :)

@dlCHIEF58: Well, I don't have much of a problem with performance in games now... It's not a big enough leap to warrant that money. I'll wait for the next gen.

@moonco: I guess that TV is overkill for your Nintendo console then.

@sladakrobot: I'm into arcade racers like Outrun and Burnout but I did learn how to drive playing Gran Turismo 4, which probably explains why my license was revoked.

@moonco: Chase HQ was the best.

@joshrmeyer: in the arcades...yes. pretty every console and pc port back then was an insult.

@sladakrobot: Ohh... Yeah I bought the game on my Wii and it didn't feel nearly the same as I remembered it in the arcade.

@joshrmeyer: was it the TurboGrafx version?

@sladakrobot: It might have been. I bought it a while ago on Wii. So whatever version that was.

@joshrmeyer: i have the TurboDuo (TurboGrafx+Cd Rom) and owned pretty every game for it. Excellent for shmups and everything in 2D but pseudo 3d via scrolling and scalling sprites...for that it was too weak. Out Run was acceptable,Power Drift was surprisingly good and Victory Run.

@sladakrobot: the Commodore Amiga version wasn't far off the arcade.

@itchyflop: Shame Taito never made a compilation of their racing games from the past ( S.C.I.,Chase HQ,Taito GP,Taito Continental Circus etc..).

At least i never heard Taito made a such compilation for the X360 or the Ps3

Avatar image for itchyflop

@sladakrobot: yeah it would be classic, i have most of them on older machines like continental circus on the Amiga 500, can yo imagine operation wolf with a light gun today, "even with a mouse it was great"! wow taito gp is well old, i can just about remember playing that as a youngling!!!!

Its funny, when Ps4 had more power than Xbox One devs were always saying "nah the games will look the same on both platforms" ;)

Makes me wonder why will most games use same graphical techniques as PS4 Pro :)

@dudebropartyyo: Yeah 'cause no devs said PS4 version was gonna be better ever. LOL. Pull the other leg.
