Konami of Europe has today announced that Pro Evolution Soccer 2, the sequel to what is widely regarded as the definitive soccer game on the PS2 or any other platform, will be released in Europe on October 25.

The sequel will remain true to the original Pro Evolution Soccer insofar as the focus will still be very much on realism, but the new game will also improve upon its predecessor in almost every way imaginable. More gameplay options, more players, smoother animation, an Umbro-endorsed training stage, and a new transfer system for the popular Master League mode are just a few of the improvements we've come across to date. Plus, for those disappointed not to find their favorite soccer team in the game's lineup, the new and improved editing mode allows customization of everything from player abilities and appearances to team colors and badges.

"The October 25 release date means that we will be able to bring Pro Evolution Soccer 2 to gamers even earlier than we hoped," commented Kunio Neo, president of Konami of Europe. "Press and public enthusiasm for the game just grows and grows, and we fully anticipate that Pro Evolution Soccer 2 will become another million-selling title for Konami of Europe."

No North American release has been confirmed for Pro Evolution Soccer 2 at the time of writing. For more information, check out our Pro Evolution Soccer of the game.
