Star Wars: Rebels takes place three years before the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The Galactic Empire is in full command and the Rebel Alliance is in its early stages. The show focuses on the small, six-person rebel cell working to stand up against the Imperial garrison located on the planet Lothal.

On the January 20th episode, "A Princess on Lothal," a young Princess Leia makes her debut.

The princess here is in a different place compared to where we first saw her in Episode IV. While she is working on becoming the strong leader we're all familiar with, she is still working for the Empire at this point. She is not a strong supporter of the Empire and their actions, but she's allowing them to believe she is simply a privileged princess running mercy missions to those worlds in need. She is really biding her time and becoming more powerful than the Empire can imagine.

A clip for the episode has been released in which Princess Leia meets Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger.

Young Princess Leia will be voiced by Julie Dolan. This will be her only appearance during the second season. Dolan also provides the voice of Leia in Disney's Star Tours attraction.

Here are some more images from the episode.

"A Princess on Lothal" airs on Disney XD on January 20 at 9 pm ET/PT.
