Mindscape announced Friday that it will bring Prince of Persia 3D to the PlayStation. The game will be based on the PC version of the same name, and will make use of character models and animations from that title.

Prince of Persia 3D features a storyline co-authored by Jordan Mechner, the creator of the original Prince of Persia. It revolves around you, the prince, attempting to save your true love, the princess, from the evil Assan.

Mindscape has stated that the game will be altered slightly for the PlayStation, by increasing the emphasis on action. "We recognize that the PC and PlayStation customers have different preferences," says executive producer Andrew Pedersen. "We intend to provide the PlayStation enthusiast with an experience that appeals more directly to their tastes, resulting in a product that combines the fast-action combat with the depth and immersion of a classic action/adventure game."

Developed by Avalanche Software, Prince of Persia 3D for the PlayStation is scheduled for a Q1 2000 release.
