Priest update

JC releases new information about its online RPG set in a world that mixes horror and Wild West themes.

Korean developer JC Entertainment has released more information about the templars, one of the two major factions in Priest. The online RPG is inspired by a manga comic of the same name that is set in an unusual world that looks much like the Wild West but with a demonic twist. In the game, the templars are an ancient order of warrior-mystics who follow the disgraced priest Ivan Isaacs in the fight against the world's other faction, the satanic heretics.

Priest's templar order is a militant wing of the Catholic church that descended from generations of knights who fought to drive demons out of the Holy Land during the Crusades. The templars combine a fierce devotion to their beliefs with serious fighting skills, and the church tolerates the order's growing fanaticism because of the great threat of the fallen archangel Temozarela and his army of undead. While characters that join the ranks of the heretics will have vicious claws, spiked weapons, spine shooters, and other savage arms in their arsenal, the templars rely on the traditional Colt pistols, Winchester rifles, and bowie knives of the Wild West.

Priest features a combat system that emphasizes first-person action more than most online games, a design that's intended to make it so player skill is just as important as a character's experience level. The game has been in beta testing in Korea since earlier this year, and a US beta test will be announced in the coming months. The game is scheduled for release later this year.
