Owners of the PC and Xbox 360 versions of Prey will be able to beef up their games soon, according to 3D Realms, who oversaw development of the game. The company's Web site says that patches and new content are on the way "soon."

The PC patch will bump the game up to version 1.1 and tackle various bugs and crashing issues. A similar patch will also be released for the Xbox 360 version and "address network lag," as well as "fix several bugs." No time of release has been announced, but unconfirmed reports around the Internet say an update for the Xbox 360 edition was released today.

3D Realms also spilled the beans on new content for the game. The new content will feature four new multiplayer maps intended for matches with few combatants. Six new playable characters will also be added, including Jen, Elhuit, Mother, Becky, a Hunter, and an Elite Hunter. No price or release period has been announced for the new content.

Prey is rated M for Mature and retails for $49.99 on the PC and $59.99 on the Xbox 360. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's review.
