Preacher TV Series Premiere Date Announced

The cult comic book adaptation is coming in May.

The much-anticipated TV adaptation of the acclaimed comic book Preacher has been given its official premiere date. It has been confirmed that the show will debut immediately after the mid-season finale of the zombie drama Fear the Walking Dead.

As reported by Variety, the first episode of the supernatural thriller will screen on Sunday, May 22 on AMC. Fear the Walking Dead is the channel's spinoff from its hugely popular The Walking Dead, and the second season kicks off on April 10.

Preacher stars Captain America's Dominic Cooper as a smalltown preacher who is possessed by a supernatural creature and controlled by opposing forces of both good and evil. The show has been developed for AMC by Seth Rogen and his regular filmmaking partner Evan Goldberg.

The comic book was created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, and first published in 1995 by the DC imprint Vertigo to huge acclaim. It ran for a total of 75 issues, including several one-off specials and a limited series, and finished in 2000.
