GameSpot has learned that Konami will have a new playable demo of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for the Sony PlayStation 2 at its booth during the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. Further bits of information have also been released on the game. Other than Fortune, the female character who wields a laser cannon and was identified in the E3 2001 trailer, some of the other characters in the game have been revealed. Vamp is the vampirelike character who attacks the soldiers during one of the scenes in the E3 trailer, and Emma is a teenage girl wearing glasses. Olga, whom players fought at the end of the playable demo, has also received a slight face-lift for the final game. MGS2 will also feature more cyborg ninjas who sport unidentified gear attachments.

GameSpot has also learned of a new setting in the game. At some point, players will find themselves on an oil rig in the middle of an ocean. Expect more on Metal Gear Solid 2 during our coverage of the Tokyo Game Show beginning Thursday evening.
