The Pokemon-like monster-catching RPG Temtem has been targeting a console release for 2021, but it's coming a little sooner than expected. Crema has announced it will make its console debut on PlayStation 5 this year, on December 8.

A PlayStation Blog post from game director Guillermo Andrades says this will be an early access version of the game, and will feature crossplay between the PS5 and PC versions. You'll be able to visit four of the six main islands in early access, and the main campaign is expected to last about 30 hours. In the post-game, you can take on ranked matchmaking, work on customizing your character and house, and attempt to finish weekly challenges.

Preorders are now available at $38 for the standard edition or $60 for the deluxe edition. The team notes that the base price will increase with the release of major island updates, making it $45 and $65 for the full release, respectively. The deluxe edition includes extra cosmetic items in both early access and full release.

Long-term, the studio is planning more Temtem to catch, more multiplayer features, and additional endgame content. Crema has also previously said it's planning Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch versions, though dates for those are unannounced.

Temtem launched in February and got off to a strong start on PC early access. It's modeled closely after Pokemon, with some twists of its own that the Pokemon series could learn from.
