Niantic has a ton of events lined up for Pokemon Go this month, including the returning solstice celebration--which is now underway until June 24--and the bug-themed Bug Out. The studio has now shared more details about both events, including what Pokemon and bonuses will be available during each.

Solstice Event

This year's solstice event kicked off on Friday, June 19, at 8 AM local time and runs until 10 PM local time on June 24. Throughout the event, Pokemon associated with the sun and moon--such as Clefairy, Sunkern, and others--will appear in the wild much more often than normal, and you'll have a chance to catch a Shiny Clefairy in the wild.

Naturally, Lunatone and Solrock will also be featured during the solstice event. Each is normally only available in certain regions, but they'll be appearing in three-star Raids and hatching from 5 km eggs in all regions. The Pokemon will also be swapping locations at different points throughout the event. You can see their spawn schedule below. Note that all times listed are local.

Solrock and Lunatone
Solrock and Lunatone

June 19 (8 AM) - June 20 (11:59 PM)

  • Increased Solrock spawns in the western hemisphere
  • Increased Lunatone spawns in the eastern hemisphere

June 21 (12 AM) - June 22 (11:59 PM)

  • Increased Solrock and Lunatone spawns in all regions

June 23 (12 AM) - June 24 (10 PM)

  • Increased Solrock spawns in the eastern hemisphere
  • Increased Lunatone spawns in the western hemisphere

Following the solstice celebration, Lunatone will remain in the western hemisphere and Solrock will remain in the eastern, so you'll still have a chance to catch them even after the event ends.

Bug Out

The bug-themed Bug Out event will follow on Friday, June 26. The event kicks off at 8 AM local time and runs until 10 PM on July 1. Throughout that period, there will be increased spawn rates of Bug-type Pokemon like Venipede, Scyther, and Dwebble. You'll also have your first chance to capture a Shiny Dwebble in the game, and you'll earn twice the normal amount of XP for catching Pokemon throughout the event.

On top of that, certain Bug Pokemon will be lured out by Incense at specific times during the event. You'll have a much better chance of attracting the following Pokemon during the specified time frames when you use an Incense:

  • June 26 (8 AM) - June 27 (11:59 PM): Nincada
  • June 28 (12 AM) - June 29 (11:59 PM): Wurmple
  • June 30 (12 AM) - July 1 (10 PM): Scyther

Finally, there will be a special Pinsir Raid Day during the Bug Out. That will take place on Sunday, June 28. From 11 AM to 2 PM local time that day, Pinsir will appear much more frequently in three-star Raids, making that a good opportunity to catch the popular Bug Pokemon. You can read more about the Bug Out and solstice events on the official Pokemon Go website.
