Pokemon Go's Sustainability Week event takes place next week from April 20-25, developer Niantic has announced. The event will feature increased spawns of Poison, Grass, and other kinds of Pokemon, and you'll have your first chance to catch Shiny Trubbish as well as the new Gen 6 monster, Binacle.

Throughout Sustainability Week, Grimer, Drilbur, Ferroseed, Trubbish, and other monsters will appear in the wild more frequently than usual, while Diglett, Tangela, Goldeen, Budew, Cherubi, and Finneon will hatch more frequently from 5 km eggs. The aforementioned Binacle will also be appearing as a Raid boss alongside Vileplume, Exeggutor, and other Pokemon.

In addition to the increased Pokemon spawns, there will be new event-exclusive Timed and Field Research tasks. Completing these will lead to encounters with Chespin, Cottonee, Binacle, and other monsters. All players will also be able to claim a free Sustainability Week t-shirt for their avatar from Pokemon Go's style shop.

Finally, Niantic is holding a real-world sustainability campaign. If players across all of Niantic's games can work together to hit sustainability-related goals, the studio will unlock various in-game bonuses. The following bonuses will be available in Pokemon Go on April 25 if the goals are met:

  • Tier 1(2,500 activations): Five-star raids will appear more often.
  • Tier 2 (5,000 activations): A free bundle containing three Remote Raid Passes will be available in the shop. The rewards from Tier 1 will remain active.
  • Tier 3 (10,000 activations): A 2× Catch XP bonus will be live. The rewards from Tiers 1 and 2 will remain active.

Sustainability Week kicks off at 10 AM local time on April 20 and runs until 8 PM local time on April 25. You can read more details about the event on the official Pokemon Go blog.

In the meantime, Pokemon Go's Rivals' Week event runs until April 18. As part of that event, Pokemon that have well-known rivalries, such as Zangoose and Seviper, are appearing more frequently. Niantic has also introduced a couple of new monsters to the game, including the Gen 6 Pokemon Skrelp and Clauncher, as well as Therian Forme Landorus.

Pokemon Go's Friendship Day event, meanwhile, will take place on April 24. Throughout that event, Grass-types such as Chikorita, Cottonee, and Foongus will appear in the wild more often than usual, and there will be a new Collection Challenge to complete and various other bonuses. After that, Niantic is holding a New Pokemon Snap-themed event from April 29 to May 2.
