Pokemon Go: Last Chance To Get Legendary Pokemon Registeel

The Legendary Pokemon leaves Raid Battles on August 16.

If you still haven't captured Registeel in Pokemon Go, you only have a little more time to do so. The Legendary Steel-type Pokemon is scheduled to leave Raid Battles later today, August 16, making this your last opportunity to add one to your collection for the foreseeable future.

Like Regice (which appeared in Raid Battles earlier this summer), Registeel is one of the three Legendary titans introduced in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire for Game Boy Advance. To catch it in Pokemon Go, you'll first need to team up with other players at a Gym where a Registeel Raid Battle is taking place and challenge the Legendary; if you manage to defeat it, then you'll be rewarded with a chance to capture it.

All three of the Legendary titans boast high defensive stats, making them formidable opponents in battle. As a Steel-type, Registeel is particularly susceptible to Fire, Fighting, and Ground Pokemon, so you'll want to bring along Charizard, Blaziken, Machamp, and other such powerful monsters to stand the best chance at defeating the Legendary.

While Registeel may not be around for much longer, the third and final Legendary titan, Regirock, is set to debut in Pokemon Go soon. Niantic has yet to announce when the Legendary Rock-type will begin appearing in Raid Battles, but it will presumably arrive later this week just as Registeel is departing.

Raid Battles are the most common way to encounter Legendaries in Pokemon Go, but they aren't the only way to capture the powerful Pokemon. Niantic occasionally brings previous Legendary Pokemon back for a limited time as part of an in-game event, as was the case with Zapdos last month. Players can also encounter certain Legendary Pokemon by completing Field Research tasks; the latest set of Field Research, for instance, leads to another encounter with Raikou.

Players also only have a few more days to take advantage of Pokemon Go's ongoing trading event. Until 9 PM PT on August 19 (12 AM ET on August 20), all Pokemon trades will cost 25% less Stardust than normal. You'll also be able to earn more Candy than before--up to six Candies during every trade--and any Pokemon you receive that weren't previously registered in your Pokedex will net triple the usual amount of XP.
