Pokemon Go Johto Celebration Now Live, Features Shiny Miltank And More Gen 2 Pokemon

Pokemon Go's next regional celebration runs from January 26-31 and features many Gen 2 Pokemon and other bonuses.

Pokemon Go's Kanto Tour event is just around the corner, and developer Niantic is spotlighting different regions of the Pokemon world in the lead up to it. The Hoenn Celebration has ended, but the Johto Celebration event is now underway, and it features a variety of Gen 2 Pokemon to catch, including Shiny Miltank.

Featured Johto Pokemon

The Johto Celebration kicks off at 10 AM local time on January 26 and runs until 8 PM local time on January 31. Throughout the event, the following Gen 2 Pokemon will appear in the wild more frequently than usual:

  • Chikorita
  • Cyndaquil
  • Totodile
  • Mareep
  • Hoppip
  • Aipom
  • Sunkern
  • Yanma
  • Murkrow
  • Gligar
  • Snubbull
  • Slugma
  • Miltank

Shiny Miltank will also be appearing in the wild throughout the Johto Celebration, while the following Pokemon will be hatching from 5 km eggs:

  • Pichu
  • Cleffa
  • Igglybuff
  • Wooper
  • Tyrogue
  • Smoochum
  • Larvitar

Community Day Moves

On top of the increased Pokemon spawns, you'll also have another chance to learn previous Community Day moves. You'll be able to learn the following attacks if you can evolve the corresponding Pokemon during the Johto Celebration event:

  • Evolve Bayleef to get a Meganium that knows Frenzy Plant
  • Evolve Quilava to get a Typhlosion that knows Blast Burn
  • Evolve Flaaffy to get an Ampharos that knows Dragon Pulse
  • Evolve Pupitar to get a Tyranitar that knows Smack Down

Legendary Raids

To coincide with the Johto Celebration event, Niantic is bringing the three Legendary dogs Entei, Raikou, and Suicune back to Raids. Each one will only appear during a specific window of time, so you'll have a few days to capture all three. You can see the Legendaries' Raid schedule below:

  • Entei: January 26-31
  • Raikou: January 31 - February 4
  • Suicune: February 4-9

In other news, Niantic is holding a Sneasel Limited Research event on January 30, while February's Community Day takes place on Sunday, February 7. A Team Go Rocket Celebration event is also scheduled to follow from February 2-7.
