Pokemon Go has brought another Legendary Pokemon back to Raids. To coincide with the game's Sinnoh Celebration event, Heatran, the Lava Dome Pokemon from Diamond and Pearl, is appearing as a five-star Raid boss once again for a limited time. If you're looking to add the Legendary Pokemon to your collection, we've rounded up some tips to help you beat and catch Heatran below.

Heatran Raids

Heatran will periodically appear as a five-star Raid boss at Gyms around the world until January 19. You'll need to have a Raid Pass to participate in these battles. You can either purchase these from Pokemon Go's in-game store or receive a free one when you spin the Photo Disc at a PokeStop; however, you can only hold one free Raid Pass in your inventory at a time.

Heatran Raids can occur any time, but your best bet for finding one will be on Wednesday, January 13, from 6-7 PM local time, when Niantic hosts its weekly Raid Hour event. During that hour, Heatran Raids will be occurring more frequently at Gyms, effectively guaranteeing you'll have a chance to challenge the Legendary.

Heatran Weaknesses And Counters

Heatran is a dual Fire/Steel type, which makes it especially weak to Ground-type Pokemon. Groudon, Rhyperior, and Garchomp will be especially helpful when battling Heatran, although Water and Fighting types such as Machamp, Kyogre, and Swampert will be good choices to bring along as well.

Two types you'll generally want to avoid using, however, are Dragon and Psychic. Heatran resists both thanks to its Steel typing, so neither will be very helpful when challenging the Legendary. Bug, Grass, and other Steel Pokemon are also weak to Heatran, so avoid bringing any of those along to the Raid.
