Pokemon Go Cobalion Guide: Best Counters, Weaknesses, Raid Hours, And More Tips
The Legendary Iron Will Pokemon has returned to Raid Battles for a limited time; here are some tips to help you beat and catch it.
The Legendary Swords of Justice have returned to Pokemon Go for a limited time. As part of the game's ongoing Pokemon Home event, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion are all making an encore appearance in Raid Battles from November 16-24, giving you another chance to capture the Legendary trio. If you need some assistance defeating the three Legendaries, we've rounded up some tips to help you beat and catch Cobalion below.
Cobalion Raid Hours
Cobalion will return as a five-star Raid boss (alongside Terrakion and Virizon) starting 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on November 16, and it'll remain in the game until the same time on November 24, giving you just over a week to catch it. As usual, Raid battles don't follow a set schedule, but you'll receive a notification in the game when one is about to begin at a nearby Gym. To participate in the Raid in-person, you'll need to have Raid Pass. You can also join a Raid remotely with a Remote Raid Pass.
Cobalion Weaknesses And Counters
Each of the Swords of Justice has two typings, and Cobalion is a dual Steel/Fighting Pokemon. Thanks to this unique combination, Psychic, Flying, and Fairy Pokemon (which normally have an advantage over Fighting types) only deal neutral damage to Cobalion. However, its part Steel typing makes Cobalion vulnerable to Ground, Fire, and other Fighting Pokemon, so you'll want to stack your team with those when you face it.
Other Legendary Pokemon like Groundon will be especially helpful, but if you don't have one of those, Garchomp, Hippowdon, and Mamoswine are good alternatives; the latter, however, also takes super-effective damage from Cobalion, so keep that in mind. Entei is one of your best bets when it comes to Fire Pokemon, although Chandelure, Moltres, and Mega Charizard are also good choices, and you can round out your team with Fighting types like Machamp, Hariyama, and Heracross.
Types To Avoid
As previously mentioned, you'll want to avoid using Fairy types. Although they typically have an advantage over Fighting Pokemon, they'll take super-effective damage from any Steel moves that Cobalion has. Ice, Rock, and Normal Pokemon are also poor choices, as all those types are susceptible to Cobalion's Sacred Sword attack.
