Although Sony has not detailed what it plans to show, fans have speculated it may finally reveal the sequel to Gravity Rush. Speaking at the GameSpot x Kinda Funny stage at E3 2015, Sony's president of worldwide studios, Shuehei Yoshida, said it was "waiting for the right time" to debut the game, indicating once again that it is in development.

On July 10, 2015, Microsoft released a statement to Japanese media confirming Xbox will not have an official presence at this Tokyo Game Show 2015, despite its large presence last year.

"This year, Microsoft will not exhibit the Tokyo Game Show, but we're making various preparations to deliver the latest Xbox news to fans and media," Microsoft Japan marketing executive Masayuki Inoue said in a statement. "We will provide an update as soon as we can."

The Xbox One has struggled to gather any sales momentum in Japan since its release in September 2014, but Microsoft has indicated it hopes to improve sales over time by listening to gamers' suggestions. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said in previous interviews that Japan is a "soulful" place for games, and one that is "critical" for Microsoft to support.
