PlayStation Plus Free Games For July 2022 Are Available Now

July's PS Plus Essential lineup includes Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time and The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan.

The latest batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers is live now. July 2022's PS Plus lineup includes Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, and Arcadegeddon. The trio of new PlayStation Plus free games will be until August 2 for PS4 and PS5 users. This is one of the better PS Plus lineups of the year, so PlayStation Plus subscribers have a couple of fun games to check out this month.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is the best-known of the bunch. Originally released in late 2020, Crash Bandicoot 4 brought back the iconic mascot in style. It retains the level-based formula of the early Crash games while adding modern flourishes for a smoother overall experience. Crash 4 is fast-paced platforming fun that requires nimble fingers and quick wits. While it's a great family-friendly game, it is more challenging than most AAA platformers on the market today. Both the PS4 and PS5 versions will be free, so PlayStation 5 owners can get performance improvements.

Decidedly not kid-friendly, The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan is the first entry in Supermassive Games' horror anthology series. Similar to the studio's other hits like The Quarry and Until Dawn, Man of Medan is a narrative-based adventure with an emphasis on player choice to alter the course of the story. Man of Medan follows five friends who go on a trip together. What could go wrong?

Arcadegeddon is a cooperative multiplayer shooter set inside of an arcade game. It supports up to four players and has both PvE and PvP activities. Arcadegeddon is played from a third-person perspective and has stylish visuals that look quite fitting alongside the premise. It has flown under the radar since becoming available last summer, but we imagine the servers will be pretty active once it's available to PS Plus members. The PS4 and PS5 versions of Arcadegeddon will be available to claim.

As a reminder, the monthly trio of freebies are still available for all PlayStation Plus subscribers, regardless of which tier you are signed up for. If you subscribed to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, make sure to check out our list of the best PS4 and PS5 games in the library to download and play today. Also, Premium members should take a look at our roundups of the best classic games and best PS3 games to stream.

Stop calling them "free" games -- call them "monthly PS Plus" games. This shite isn't free, and I would pay strictly for multiplayer if it were up to me.

~Do you remember when Xbox said" you forever own the games even once you cancel" ?

By not owning em once it expires it's just a games Netflix service except you only get to play what you have attached to your account.. Looking at it that way= it's pretty Sh!tty.

@dmblum1799: The 'whining' didn't bother me.

In fact it reminded me that i feel the same way.

Everyone should be annoyed at it.

And a post in a forum isn't exactly marching in protest.

Damnit... I just bought the Dark Pictures Anthology on Series X. Oh well. At least I still got the other 2.

I think these games are better than Until Dawn. That game just bored me.

How do the releases work again? PS Plus is the beginning of the month and Extra is the middle?

Crash 4... Nice...

Arcadegeddon looks meh. When I read the name, i thought it would be a collection of old arcade games, but it seems to be something worse.

Dark Pictures seems to be story based horror/drama. Don't know much about it thou.

Every time a month has 1 good game, i consider it a win. With CRASH 4, this month is already a win.

@Jarrkha: These leaks have been 100% accurate every single time, for the last year or more. So, chill out. It’s going to be these games.

@stickemup: I'm not gonna fuckin chill out on anything, when they come from a bunch of randos so close to the actual announcement dates and are clearly just meant to drum up buzz. I've been following this shit for the whole bloody time - it still doesn't make it okay.

Man of Medan, a game already included in PS+ Extra, is next months PS+ title? Are you serious?

@TTDog: You should be, my subscription expires on halloween and to upgrade to extra was $18. I got to play man of medan, little hope, DS directors cut, miles morales and outer wilds. You get your moneys worth if you're a patient gamer.

Man of medan is definitely not a good game though. Probably the weakest game supermassive has made

That's awesome. I haven't played either of those and would definitely be interested in trying them, especially Crash.

I like Man of Medan, but it’s by far the weakest of the Dark Pictures games. Don’t play it co-op. It completely ruins the horror element of it. Co-op is fine for the other two games in the series.

@doublem-k: Yeah, I know, I was just saying that it's already there if you wanted to play it earlier. It wasn't a criticism of PS Plus as @StickEmUp seems to think.

@gotrekfabian: What does that have to do with anything? This is the fourth game. What you’re talking about is only the first 3 games. Not to mention that not everyone has a PS5. The PS+ Collection is only for PS5 owners or people who signed into their account on someone else’s PS5.

Pretty decent lineup for July I must say.

Crash Bandicoot 4 is definitely the stand out of the bunch but Man of Medan is a great horror title worth diving into.

Personally I think Man of Medan is the weaker of the Dark Pictures anthology bunch I have played (liked Little Hope more.) but it is still a tense ride with lots of twists and turns.

Speaking of, I am currently playing through The Quarry; Supermassive games' latest foray into the horror realm and their first big full title since Until Dawn (at least I think.). I am just in the beginning stages but so far it is a blast and you can see how much the team have grown since their days with Until Dawn.

Whether you are a fan of the QTE choose your own story genre I think there is a lot of fun to be had with Man of Medan so people should for sure check it out. And bedsides... it's free!

Crash 4 was real good. The developers were clearly fans of the originals and put a lot of thought into what a modern Crash Bandicoot game would be.

@pillarrocks: It’s fun, but as Cupid said, definitely the weakest of the Dark Pictures games. Do not play it in co-op. It completely ruins it. The other two games are good in co-op, but this one loses all elements of horror in co-op.

@pillarrocks: It's actually the weakest of the Dark Pictures games, but it's still worth playing through since it's fairly short.

I think it's time to acknowledge that if the line-up is being "leaked" every single month, without fail, then it's not actually being "leaked" at all.

@ghostgate2001: I disagree. Remember how Assassins Creed was leaked pretty much every time. Consistency doesn’t mean it’s a marketing ploy, plus what would Sony gain over leaking it early? If anything it hurts them because their security is obviously breached somehow. Whether it’s someone from outside with access they shouldn’t have, or someone inside spilling what they shouldn’t, having a monthly leak does not reflect well on a company.

@ricklepick: Lol. It is far more believable that these leaks aren’t leaks, rather than there being someone who’s obtaining info in some illicit way, every single time, and being 100% accurate. Tons of companies “leak” things.
