PlayStation Now's Most-Played 2015 Games Revealed as New Titles Arrive

There are now more than 300 games in the PS Now library.

Sony announced today which games were most popular on the PlayStation Now streaming service in 2015. Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic The Last of Us led the way, with NBA 2K14, Batman: Arkham City, Saints Row IV, and God of War Ascension rounding out the top five.

These games were played for "literally millions of hours," Sony said in a PlayStation Blog post. You can see the full top ten list below.

Additionally, Sony has announced that seven new Deep Silver-published games were added to the PlayStation Now catalog today, including Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell and Metro: Last Light. The full list is available below.

Counting these new games and the 40-plus titles added in January, PlayStation Now's library now includes more than 300 games. New games are typically added on a monthly basis, so that number is poised to grow further still.

Additionally, Sony revealed that it rolled out a new PS Now feature in January called "My List." As the name suggests, this lets you select games from the library to play at a later time.

Individual game rental pricing varies by duration, while all-you-can-play subscriptions cost $20/month. PlayStation Now is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita, as well as some Sony TVs and PlayStation TV.

People tend to overlook the types of customers PSNow is best made available for. Sure, anybody might enjoy the service, but it's really about people in certain use cases.

My mother bought a Sony blu-Ray player on Black Friday. I have 5 PS3 controllers. I send 1 or 2 to her house and she can use that player for me and my kids to stream and play Playstation games without a console or any games. Yes, it costs, but so would rental on hardware and games. So PSNow is overall cheaper and more convenient. If it's only needed for the holiday, $20/month isn't bad for all the games we'd have access to. If we visit often then $99/yr isn't bad either.

My biggest gripe are the per rental prices. But I'm convinced Sony does this to purposefully control the number of users on the service. I say this because streaming games is still difficult and it will take time before any company is ready to take on a comparitive number of PS3/PS4 owners using a service like PSNow. It's why Gaikai and OnLive were doomed to fail in their previous incarnations.

I've used PSNow and it's comparable to streaming Ps4 games to a PS Vita/TV. Slightly worse due to overhead (lag) from the content being delivered from outside the home network.

$99/yr is great value for those who missed out on most of the PS3's very best which is quite a lot!

As for me, got all the PS3 games i was ever interested in and built a backlog. Til the day I clean that backlog, my PS3 aint going nowhere.

Currently playing Dragon's Dogma to tide myself over for Dark Souls 3 and I'm wondering how last gen overlooked this wonderful game!

For all ye Dark Souls/Bloodborne players with a PS3 who got bored with the bloated Witcher 3, Dragon's Dogma may scratch the itch. Lord knows it deserves a sequel.

Why would you pay so much for this service? You can easily obtain these titles for small amounts on eBay and then sell them for about the same price when done with them so all it costs you is p&p. Wise up people and stop throwing your money away!

Also comparing this service to other game subscriptions is a joke as those services also include brand new games. Rip off Sony

@the-games-masta: well, no, for 20$ you can play 300 different games. On ebay, it's 10-20$ Per game, and let's be honest, it's a huuuge advantage that you can stream everything instantly. Ebay you'd have to wait days or weeks to play, and when you're done you have to hassle with selling it again. Never owned a ps3, so in my case, PSnow is great. For others, maybe not so much. They just need to accept that it's not a service aimed at them.

in all honestly its becoming quite a service now, ok when it started with only 100 games it was a not that good at all but now 300 games, for a years worth thats alot of gaming. lets face it if you never had a ps3 thats alot of games to play, worth the time investment.

I used to think psnnow was a rip off but there is a lot of value for people who either didnt have a ps3 last gen or who didnt get to play older titles like ico and SOTC GOW etc... im playing games i have never had the chance to play. Catherine and some other anime titles. When ive completed them, ill cancel my sub, simple as.

If you own the majority of those games dont pay for psplus...simple

@Bigjoe275: This service is pretty much meant for the people who didn't get to play them and who don't want a PS3 and a hundred discs and plastic cases floating around. Like me and many others. This service was never meant for you in the first place. And it's $100 a year.

@livedreamplay: Psnow will never get to live down the fact that the competition while adding games at a slower rate is allowing you to play your owned copy wether digital or physical. No matter how much they add you still gotta pay and it sucks.

I love how the Sony Royal Guards come out, trying to justify spending MORE money. Unbelievable.

PSNow should be free included with what you're already spending on PSPlus. Sony is straight up ripping people off.

@adriangrey11: How could this be free? If you already have the games for your PS3, then why would you bother with this service? This service is meant for people who either didn't get a chance to play these games, or don't own a PS3. Kinda like a poor replacement for native BC.

@adriangrey11: Yeah because the $40 I spend a year for 72 free games, and discounts on others is such a rip off. They should also give away 300+ games. Even valued at $5 a game, that's still $1500 worth of games to play. In what world do you think any of this would be free? MS "free" BC still makes you buy the game. Only mentioned that because I know how much you like comparing the 2.

$10 a month would be more reasonable to me for last gen accessibility. They still don't have enough games for me to want to try it. I prefer they do what they did by making GTA 3 games playable on my PS4. :)

PS Now doesn't interest me in the slightest. If I want to play a PS3 game, I'll plug in a PS3. I'll buy a good remaster though...like the BioShock collection if it becomes available.

@brazprince: Yeah..I mean I don't think it's bad for people that like to rent games and don't want to go through Gamefly or Redbox, but it's not for me. And it irks my nerves when I'm watching something online and the quality drops. It doesn't happen often because I have pretty fast internet, but if that was happening while I was gaming I'd be pissed.

Seems like PS Now works decently well. Still don't think streaming is the future of gaming. Probably digital, but not streaming.

And to be honest, $20 a month, isn't a bad deal at all.

@battlestreak: i agree, people seem to overreact about the price of ps now. It's a better deal than gamefly. Gamefly has it where for $15 you get 1 game a month and for $20 you get 2 games a month. For ps now, $20 a month or $15/month for 3 months gets you over 100 games.

@iammcgruber: With GameFly you also don't have the convenience of streaming. You have to order your disc, and return it. Not a huge deal, but plopping down on my couch and pressing a button is certainly easier. Also with GameFly you're getting used games, if that makes a difference.

A plus with GameFly would be that you don't suffer any lag from streaming.

Just wanted to clear some things up.

PS Now is a rental service. It is comprable to Netflix and Gamefly. You wouldn't say that Gamefly offers backwards compatibility simply because they have a title you owned, nor should you say PS Now is a substitute for backwards compatibility. It is merely a rental service that offers a variety of games which you may or may not already own.

Many people are comparing prices and saying that they could get X game for 3 dollars on Ebay. You can in fact get an older Playstation title for 3 bucks on Ebay, maybe even cheaper in a digital sale. But you can not get the entirety of the library for 3 dollars, which has approximately 300 titles.

I myself am not interested in it as it does not suit my particular gaming needs (I already have an enormous backlog of games to deal with). But it's a fairly good deal for someone that is new to the PS franchise who would not have otherwise experienced older titles.

@RicanV: I try saying this every article but xbots will be xbots. By now, everyone should know how psnow works. I would have probably gotten the years subscription, but I wanted it mostly to stream to my vita and my experience with that wasn't great... depending on the game. Definitely runs better on a wired connection.

@RicanV: With the money they spent on Gaikai ( PSNow ), they could have figured out how to run PS3 and PS2 game discs on the PS4. A $380million back compat emulator.

But really, PSNow is more than just "emulation", it's the direction Playstation is going. In 15 years time, they are banking on not having to make expensive console hardware. Your console will essentially become PSNow on a USB thumbstick plugged into the back of your TV with your super fast internet.

But for now PSNow, is just an early stage experiment gone wrong. They shouldn't charge for it, it doesn't work, and nobody wants it.

@adriangrey11: How doesn't it work? I tried the 7 day trial and every game I played was just as if I popped the disc in my ps3. Everyone who frequents this site knows you're an xbot who only goes on PS articles to talk trash. You may want a new screen name if you're gonna troll. FYI, not everyone in the world has a ps4. BC at this stage in ps4s life is pointless. These games can run on my brothers $79 bluray player. I'm not into last gen, but it's a great service for those who are.

@adriangrey11: psnow does work. Not sure where you're getting that info. And I don't think it's an early experiment gone wrong. I do agree with you in that this is more of a long term plan though. Sony wasn't expecting everybody to jump on board with this from launch. I mean hell, Netflix started in 1997. Sony will slowly grow their library and user base over the years until they have the best gaming rental service on the market. That's the plan. Also not sure why you think they shouldn't charge for it. Seems like a bad decision.

@merimack: It was a long term business decision. Rather than investing in backwards compatibility for titles that people already owned to be played on PS4 they went with a business model that embraced more platforms. I believe you can actually use PSNow on some existing Smart TVS (Samsung and Sony) just by subscribing and buying a controller. NO console needed.
