Playstation 4 supports voice recognition

The PlayStation 4 will support voice commands, a Sony representative has confirmed.

"Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that PlayStation Camera allows for voice recognition and we will look forward to sharing more details in the lead up to the launch of PlayStation 4 on November 29 [in Europe]," a Sony spokesperson told Polygon.

The confirmation comes shortly after an Amazon listing for the PlayStation Camera stated that it would allow features including "navigational voice commands."

Competitor Microsoft will offer voice command support for the Xbox One via Kinect.

The PS4 launches November 15 in North America, November 29 in Europe, and in 32 countries in all by the end of the year.

Who would be so lazy enough not to use the easy to use controller to navigate menus and use voice command to do stuff? That goes for both Xbone and PS4.

And they don't make it the focal point of the reveal or product. Sony just revealed it now because its a secondary attachment in the peripheral for most gamers who aren't casuals.

You do realize that because the PS eye won't be with every console developers won't include features that could take advantage of it. So if features that do take advantage of the kinect take off and they probably will considering all the possibilities it has Sony is going to be behind yet again kind of like they are with PSN.

Microsoft isn't having any trouble just because some people don't like what their offering doesn't mean their having trouble. I think it's more of a communication error I liked what Microsoft was doing before it had a lot more possibilities. But I look at it like this Best game selection : Microsoft. Best gaming network : Microsoft. Slightly better graphics : Sony. I don't see Sony offering anything that would be worth switching.

Everyone is so quick to chew Microsoft out and even quicker to forget the things that Sony has done in the past. Microsoft is improving Xbox live yet all I see are comments complaining about from people who actually have live about not renewing it. Do people honestly think that Sony can compete with Microsoft? It can't. Those servers that the PSN is on about a 90% chance it's running Microsoft server software. Those programs that the PS4 is running probably wrote using Microsoft Visual studio. I don't care how much you try and avoid it Microsoft is getting some of your money anyway.
