Word of another entry in the Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare series has been circulating for quite some time, but leaks appear to be mounting lately indicating that the official announcement may be imminent. Users in the closed alpha have reportedly leaked screenshots, while a trademark may have indicated the name.

A closed alpha test has been ongoing on PS4 and Xbox One, with heavy restrictions on sharing any details. But of course some users have broken the rules, sharing the content in since-deleted threads on Reddit (via Push Square). The leaked screens purport to show character select screens for the Plants and Zombies side, complete with categorization into Attack, Support, and Defend roles. The screens show 20 classes in all, along with a map of an open world area.

Now Playing: GS News Update: Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 Possibly Leaked

Meanwhile, Electronic Arts has trademarked the name "Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville" in Europe. That may be the title for this game, which could mean it's ditching the "Garden Warfare" spin-off title, or it could be the title for the upcoming Plants vs Zombies 3. Neighborville is the main setting for the ongoing Plants vs Zombies comic book.

PopCap hasn't released a new game since 2016, when it released both Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 and the card battler Plants Vs Zombies Heroes. EA revealed PVZ3 in July, with a pre-alpha version in testing. That game looks to be the next evolution of the strategy series that kicked off the franchise, following Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time.
