A sequel to PopCap's 2009 tower-defense-style game Plants vs. Zombies will be available during late spring 2013, the company announced today. The untitled Plants vs. Zombies sequel will include new features, settings, and situations. No further information is available.

The original Plants vs. Zombies launched for the PC and Mac, with subsequent versions arriving on a host of platforms, including iOS, Android, Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, Windows Phone, and PlayStation Vita.

Megapublisher Electronic Arts bought PopCap last year for $650 million in cash, with an additional $100 million paid in shares to certain PopCap stockholders, and as much as $550 million on the table if the firm hits performance targets.
