Pitbull bites back

Pitbull Syndicate cofounder Robert Troughton resurrects defunct development house in the form of Pitbull Studios; currently developing unannounced project.

Robert Troughton cofounded Pitbull Syndicate, only to have the studio acquired, renamed, and ultimately put down by Midway. Today, the game designer revealed what's taken place in the year since the studio closed.

Pitbull explodes back onto the scene.
Pitbull explodes back onto the scene.

The studio has set up show in Newcastle, England, where GI.biz reports it is working on a new, unannounced project. Troughton's previous studio specialized in racing, having created entries in the Test Drive and Rush series, as well as 2009's Wheelman.

"The industry has changed a lot since the day that we sold the original Pitbull," Troughton told the site. "It was a real shame that Midway’s management never seemed to move fast enough with the trends. We won’t be making the mistakes of the past with the new studio. What happened there has actually strengthened us; I would say, we’ve learnt a lot from the experience of being part of a large publisher."

Vin Diesel owns the company that produced the game, so of course his name is going to be on the box for Wheelman. I don't get the negativity directed towards Wheelman. No, it isn't groundbreaking but it is a heck of a lot of fun...I think anyways.

If anything, they need to learn from the past. And that's obviously, to not make another racing game. Just get away from cars, period. I never played a single game that they made. They were not worth checking out.

Their Test Drive games were pretty cool but that's it. Wheelman was really, really bad. I hope they can recapture their magic but it seems that alot of development house simply want to invest in/license some new graphic tech and skip the whole programming stage.

Wheelman was a surprising amount of fun. I'm looking forward to whatever they're working on.

Not a big racing fan but I have a feeling this studio is one to keep our eyes on.

I doubt they learned anything. wheelman was a good game gone horribly wrong. can't remember the last time I played wheelman. totally repetitive and awful and the physics are terrible.

By the way, there are a couple of painful puns in this article, both concerning veterinary practices. Eddie Makuch sure loves puns.

Wow, it's hard to research Pitbull. So far, I only know that it made Rush 4, also known as L.A. Rush, and some of the Test Drive games, as well as a few others. It mainly makes driving games.

Troughton really got it right when he pointed out that Midway didn't move fast enough with the trends. Sadly, that is the fate most studios meet nowadays , where potential gets brought down and held back by a mediocre publisher.

Here's a future prediction..... Their unannounced game is one that I will never plan on playing (based solely on their previous games).

Past games don't really catch my eye so hearing they have a new game in production really doesn't even register really. This is very meh to me. Don't even know why I bothered posting lqtm.
