Pink DS Lite tops Amazon list

Kiko-Jones... you dissagree with - "The PS3 has many + points but price is not one of them, to win the console war you need to get the 5 -13 year olds to play your games". But then you say - "of course that's not counting the PS2 which by far has the best gaming library in existance. ". The ps2's advantage was that it had a library which easily catered for 5- 13 year olds, and the console price was not overly inflated so that parent could no buy one. I think you thought that he meant that the ps3 will fail if it ONLY had games for 5-13 year olds. The gamecube failed because thats all it had, really. But the ps3 is basically the opposite, only sticking to the people who are (as kaz hirai says) "serious about their entertainment". You will find that Nintendo, this time, have opted for the ALL AGES route. The psp, aimed at the 15 - 30 year old media playing, gta loving demographic. The DS is catering for more ages, hence the bigger sales. The ps3 is catering for the 20 odd year old gamers, who can afford the system and have a high def TV setup. The 360, with the core system and £10 lower games price and also the premium system offers gamers alot of choice, even though the core system seems crap to us- For the person who just wants to play next gen games at £180... its not a bad choice, especially since the wii is the same price. The ps3 has a lot of work to do, as does the psp. They simply dont have the price or choice of games yet. They will never succeed without catering for the masses, like the ps2 has.

A fair point, but how many people can afford a full home-theatre set up as well as a HDTV etc.? Then again, maybe people where I live just aren't as rich...

The market is dominated by 30 year old males who grew up with Ataris, Commodores, SNES and now Playstations. Sony dominated with the PS1 & PS2 due to their grown up games. The Wii will expand Nintendo's market but the superior PS3 will atract 20 and 30 year olds who have plenty of money to spend in home-theater systems and PS3 (and 360s for that matter too). I do agree with your assesment of games, the PS3 only has Resistance as an innovative game due to its 40 player online capabilities. Expect that to change in March and beyond. In terms of game, the 360 is probably the leader; of course that's not counting the PS2 which by far has the best gaming library in existance.

My friend didn't get a Wii for Christmas, and has been looking literally EVERYWHERE for a Wii. He has gone to and called countless stores, and while NOBODY has a Wii in stock, he found several stores with PS3s in stock!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I like Sony, but I like Nintendo more. Sony really goofed on this one.

I have all the consoles and handhelds and I can honestly say that I play the Wii more than the 360 and the 360 more than the PS3 and the DS more than the PSP, but thats just due to the games that are out at the moment. The PS3 has many + points but price is not one of them, to win the console war you need to get the 5 -13 year olds to play your games, the PS3 is out of their price range, mums and dads will see the price of the 360 and get that instead or the controller on the wii and decide thats more fun, I know becuase I'm not only a gamer but a father as well.

I have both a black and a white ds lite. The white one has quieter sound, the black one is alot louder. The white one has a sharper bottom touch screen, but is less responsive. The black one has a slightly grainy looking screen, but is far more resposive. The black one is a shiny black plastic (easy to get finger marks on), the white one has a white undercoating, with a clear plastic shell over it (very nice, like ipod) and is easier on the eye (with the fingerprints). A lot of DS lites are quite unique, so its easy to understand why someone would want other colours. Besides, if not why not isnt it! I have a black and white psp (and I had the camo one delivered just today!). I guess my gaming budget is pretty large you know, but that doesnt stop people wanting to have other colours. It's funny though, ds lite pink outsells pink psp by over DOUBLE the amount! A very different story it was last year, where the psp was the dominating force! I wonder how this year will play out... alot of people in the uk are waiting for the ps3 and not getting a 360. But alot of them are still caught up in that false hype. This hasn't quite been down-played in the uk as it has in the usa, people think the ps3 is ultimately 10 times more powerful than the 360!! And when I asked a store manager if Chromehounds actually WAS any good, he said "yeah its good, but I think Gundam on the ps3 will be better". I quickly told him it was a piece of crap, but nearly everyone is saying "no, ps3 has everything, im getting one, its going to be the best" and all that stuff... Actually I remember people saying that about the psp aswell! Somehow I think the rate of 360 games, and the rate that the wii and the ds is selling, it looks like M$ and Ninty are covering all the bases before Sony can even get their foot in the door. Ps3 isnt really a console you want to purchase online, its a massive package... and its well expensive. Its more of a specialist item, imo, so I dont think Amazon sales will be good for the ps3, when Sony get enough units out.. of course.

i got a black ds lite to match my skin. sike. i got a black ds lite to match my girlfriends eye when she talks to much. sike. i got a black ds lite because i like ds lites. the color doesn't matter.

My brother got a pink DS Lite for Christmas, my sister got a black one, I got my Wii..it was a pretty good Christmas all round. And either way, the DS has already beaten the PSP in sales, so there's not much to argue about. Even if pink is a fad, Sony has bought into it with both a pink PSP and PS2. Only Nintendo can seem to make it work.

I'm sure most of the people who bought a pink DS Lite will regret it in a few years. Pink seems to just be a fad for most.

I'm with karateyoyo on this one. I'm a gal too, but I'd much rather have the sleek onyx black one than the pink (or the iPod-wannabe polar white, for that matter). Sadly last time I checked, all of the DS Lites were in short supply due to the Christmas.

Normal DS is much cheaper, plus its silver and GBA carts don't stick ot
