Sony announced today that Phil Hartman will provide the lead character voice for an original superhero named Captain Blasto in its upcoming 3-D action-adventure title Blasto for the PlayStation.

Currently in development by Sony, Blasto will feature interactive 3-D environments and a groovy take on design - back to the 1940s big studio cartoon feature look. The title is scheduled for an October release.

Hartman is an actor and comedian known for such films as Jingle All the Way and Sgt. Bilko. His casting on popular television shows includes eight seasons on Saturday Night Live and several seasons on the show NewsRadio, in addition to being the voice behind The Simpsons' most vain character, Troy McClure.
