PES 2020's EURO 2020 DLC Delayed Until Further Notice
With the real-life tournament postponed until next year, it's not surprising to see PES 2020 delay its DLC on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Back in March, football governing body UEFA postponed EURO 2020 by 12 months. The international tournament was scheduled to kick off on June 12 in Rome before culminating on July 12 in London, but the competition has now been pushed back a year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Konami has now announced that the upcoming free UEFA EURO 2020 DLC for eFootball PES 2020 has been delayed until further notice.
"With the latest state of emergency declared in Japan, the original April 30 release date for the DLC is no longer possible," Konami said in a statement.
This would imply that the delay isn't a direct result of the tournament's postponement, but it remains to be seen whether the DLC will release at some point over the next few months, or if it will be pushed back entirely to when the real-life tournament is due to begin next year. There are no doubt licencing issues that will need to be ironed out if this is the case, especially if it launches for PES 2021 instead.
Konami also announced that the UEFA eEuro 2020 esports tournament is still set to continue this year. The finalists had been scheduled to gather in London in July, but the tournament will now take place online with the final taking place on May 23-24.
