PC's RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Ported to Mobile With No Microtransactions

UK studio Frontier Developments on Thursday released a port of its 2004 PC theme park management game RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 for iOS mobile devices. You can buy the game on iTunes right here for $5.

The new mobile version does not feature an in-app purchases or free-to-play functions, Frontier stressed in its announcement today.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 for iOS includes touch-based controls and an updated, modernized user interface.

Just like you could in the classic PC game, you can build your own park and make the necessary refinements and adjustments to keep visitors busy and happy.

Included with the mobile version are all 18 scenarios from the original PC game, along with five park themes, 100 pre-built coasters, a rollercoaster creator, and the original sandbox mode where you can do basically anything you want.

Frontier has not announced an Android version of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.

Looking ahead, Frontier is now working on Planet Coaster, a new theme park game that aims to "embody the spirit" of the developer's iconic Tycoon games. The title is scheduled to launch in 2016 for PC.

Last year, Atari released the critically panned RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 for mobile devices. The publisher is also working on RollerCoaster Tycoon World, though that game, too, has generated some amount of controversy.
