PC Release Boosts Monster Hunter World Past 10 Million Units Shipped

Monster Hunter: World is Capcom's "best-selling game" ever.

Monster Hunter World has now shipped more than 10 million units, including digitally delivered units. The new sales milestone comes shortly after the game's release on PC in early August. This is up from the 7.9 million unit shipment tally that Capcom announced in May.

Capcom also confirmed that the entire Monster Hunter franchise has now sold more than 50 million combined units as of August 20. The franchise debuted in 2004.

Monster Hunter: World is the "best-selling title" in Capcom's history. While the PC launch helped the game pass 10 million units, Capcom said the title continues to see "robust sales" on console. It is also available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, having launched on console in January.

Capcom are making a great comeback from a couple of lacking years, but they've overall been pretty much a fantastic company since their beginning (with a couple of mishaps here and there of course, like almost any big companies out there; no they're not perfect). The success they're experiencing with MHW is completely deserved. It is genuinely a superb game.

And MHW's great sales is pretty much guaranteeing a sequel a some point. My only hope is that they don't stop supporting it anytime soon (PC gamers like me just got their hands on it, we also want at least half a year's worth of added content and updates like the console version had). I also really like how Street Fighter 5 is finally getting noticeably better since Season 3 (it went from my 5th favorite SF game now to pretty much my 2nd or 3rd... still debating that one with myself; but it's 1st position for the soundtrack, no contest).

I remember the Nintendo fanboys stating before the announcement in 2017 that a Monster Hunter game wouldn't sell well on consoles by giving that Wii version as an example.

Congratulations! great move for Capcom ditching Nintendo for more powerful consoles and getting the rewards. Cannot wait for the expansion!

@sakaixx: Glad it came to PC. Fan of the series now. Would have never heard of the series if it wasn't for all the Scalebound comparisons.

@freeryu: Yeah, but too bad for the cheaters on pc though. Joined my local MH groups and many is discontent on people running online with trainers & cheat engine to make the game a lot easier. Hope you have great experiences, its a great series!
