Ubisoft on Wednesday released new gameplay details for upcoming team-based shooter Rainbow Six Siege, the highlight of which was a release date for the Spectator Cam.

Spectator Cam is an interactive tactical camera that gives players a first-person view of the battlefield. It's mean to make watching multiplayer matches "both entertaining and informative," Ubisoft said.

A beta for the Spectator Cam will launch for the PC version of Rainbow Six Siege for LAN and custom online games at launch on October 13. The spectator mode won't launch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, however, until "early 2016."

"The feature is coming to PC first because PC is our lead development platform," a Ubisoft representative told GameSpot. "Releasing it in beta form on PC will allow us to gather feedback and iterate to ensure that the final version available on all platforms is of the highest quality."

Ubisoft also announced a new map for Rainbow Six Siege today. It's called Kanal and is set in Hamburg, Germany. The map features "numerous" buildings, bridges, and waterways. There are also "elevated vantage points and unique sightlines," the publisher said.

Finally, Ubisoft made another German-themed announcement today, providing new details about the "surgically lethal" German GSG 9 counter-terrorism team. There will be four distinct soldier types. Courtesy of Ubisoft, they are:

• Bandit – Highly resourceful and adaptive, Bandit carries a crude electrical device consisting of a car battery wired to an electroshock weapon that electrifies barbwire and metallic surfaces.

• Blitz – With his imposing physique, Blitz is an expert on the front lines who uses a ballistic shield that provides mobile cover with a row of eight flashbang grenades that fire to disorient targets when entering or breaching hostile environments.

• IQ – IQ is a brilliant electrical engineer. She has a wrist-mounted sensor that detects electronic devices by sweeping the electromagnetic spectrum, providing visual and audio feedback.

• Jäger – A technician with an affinity for complex machinery, Jäger is armed with a mountable ADS-MK IV "Magpie" that can deploy a projectile to neutralize incoming projectiles.

The Rainbow Six Siege release date is set for October 13 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. A beta for the game will begin in September.
