The Narrow Road Between Desires is an expanded retelling of Rothfuss's short story The Lighting Tree and features illustrations by artist Nate Taylor. According to the book's description, the story follows the satyr Bast over the course of a single day "as he schemes and sneaks, dancing into trouble and back out again with uncanny grace." While it's set in the Kingkiller Chronicle universe, The Narrow Road Between Desires also works as a standalone story that new readers can jump in with.

This isn't the only Kingkiller Chronicle book on sale at Amazon right now. You can grab the paperback release of the first novel, The Name of the Wind, for just $10, and there are coupon deals available for the second, The Wise Man's Fear, dropping the paperback edition to $13.13 (was $22), as well as the hardcover edition of the spin-off novella The Slow Regard of Silent Things, which is just $16.80 (normally $23).
