Palmer Luckey Financially Backed Anti-Hillary Clinton Meme Campaign - Report

The Daily Beast reports today that Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey financially supported an unofficial pro-Donald Trump political group that is behind "s**tposting" memes about Hillary Clinton.

According to the report, Luckey, who sold Oculus VR to Facebook in 2014 for $2 billion, is backing the Nimble America group, which calls itself a "social welfare 501(c)4 non-profit" that supports Trump.

24-year-old Luckey told The Daily Beast that he used the name "NimbleRichMan" to express his views. You can see one particularly noteworthy comment in the tweet above.

For his part, Luckey told the site, "I've got plenty of money. Money is not my issue. I thought it sounded like a real jolly good time."

The report also talks about the relationship between Luckey and Milo Yiannopoulos, who was booted from Twitter after comments about Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones.

"Before becoming directly involved in the process, Luckey met the man who would serve as the liaison for the nascent political action group, and provide legitimacy to a Reddit audience for later donations without having to reveal Luckey's identity: Breitbart tech editor and Trump booster Milo Yiannopoulos. Luckey first met the alt-right provocateur in Los Angeles about a year and a half ago, before Yiannopoulos began working on a charity to send white men to college."

Regarding his relationship with Nimble America, Luckey explained to The Daily Beast how things got started.

"I came into touch with them over Facebook," he said. "It went along the lines of, 'Hey, I have a bunch of money. I would love to see more of this stuff.' They wanted to build buzz and do fundraising."
