Painkiller goes online, gets postponed

Web site for DreamCatcher's Xbox/PC shooter debuts; first demo due February 16th.

The Web site for Painkiller, the forthcoming shooter from DreamCatcher and People Can Fly, went live today. Besides reflecting the creepy ambience and blood-spattered décor of the supernatural shooter, the Painkiller site also offers information about the title, including a gallery of otherworldly monsters and details on the PAIN game engine. Visitors can also view trailers, download sound-effect MP3s and wallpaper, as well as pre-order the game.

Unfortunately, DreamCatcher has also postponed the PC release of Painkiller, which was going to be unleashed on March 10. The M-rated shooter, which follows a recently deceased and heavily armed soul blasting his way through Purgatory, is now slated for April 12. GameSpot's preview delves further into the game's spooky setting.

DreamCatcher also released details about the upcoming Painkiller demo: namely, that's it will be single-player and available on February 16th. An Xbox version of the game is due sometime in Q2 2004.
