The follow-up to 2013's Pacific Rim has seen a troubled development over the years, but it nailed down a director, found itself a writer, and scored its star, John Boyega, earlier this year.

Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is scheduled to hit theaters on February 23, 2018. It's helmed by Steven S. DeKnight, who has directed episodes of Daredevil, Smallville, and Angel. Its script, on the other hand, was penned by Jurassic World writer Derek Connolly.
