Pac-Man, Galaga, and Other Namco Classics Coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC

Leaderboards, trophies and achievements also included.

Bandai Namco has announced it will be bringing a number of its classic titles to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Valve's Steam platform.

No Caption Provided

The games include Pac-Man, Galaga, Ms. Pac-Man, and Dig Dug, all which will be available on the aforementioned platforms from April 20.

"Each arcade-classic release will feature HD resolution and have support for leaderboards as well as trophies/achievements," the publisher said in its statement.

An Arcade Game Series 3-in-1 Pack will also be available, and includes Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug at a discounted price.

Bandai Namco also recently published Dark Souls 3, the third and supposedly final entry in From Software's acclaimed RPG series. GameSpot's Dark Souls III review awarded the sequel 8/10.

"There are several possible endings to Dark Souls III, and although most are anticlimactic, they drive home the loneliness of the paths we took," reviewer Mike Mahardy said.

"The old lords have abandoned their posts, and in the hunt to usurp them, we descend into those dark valleys, and climb those imposing peaks. This is the essence of Dark Souls III: periods of doubt, followed by great reward. The journey may be rocky, but there's a throne waiting at the end."

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

They should make official ports to JavaScript and HTML5.

That way the game will run on pretty much anything and everything in the future and we don't need to keep doing this.

So Namco chooses to not let Xbox one gamers play these games through backwards compatibility. Screw you Namco, I already have Ms pac man and galaga on 360. These games are literally the same and you wont let us cross them over to Xbox one. The same with Capcom, dont sell me the same games I had on 360. Give me the choice to play what I already have if its possible on Xbox one.

@kentray1985: These games are on backwards compatibility, I know for certain Galaga is and I'm about 99% sure Ms Pac Man is as well.

@Suaron_x: No, That screenshot is taken from SNES Ms. Pac-man. These are direct ports of the arcade games minus the good controls.

@southsouthsac: Yeah, I love it when I click on an article about one thing and it's filled with lots of irrelevant subject matter.

If Dark Souls 3 sells well, you can bet Bamco won't allow it to be the last entry.

Now bring Demon's Souls to the PS4 already!

@huyi12: It's on steam already. I don't understand the complaint. And how do you know this is a lazy port if it isn't out yet? What are you talking about?

@huyi12: If you're an Xbox One owner, the 360 versions of Pac-Man DX and Pac-Man DX CE are compatible with XB1.

@wtf_666: Tempest, Centipede, and Defender are owned by Atari. Robotron was Williams but I'm not sure who owns that now.

Anyway, you can get Atari classics on steam, but it's difficult to go back to those given the way games controlled then and I've never played an Atari game port that actually feels right on any modern controller (keyboard, XBOX360 controller, etc.) so this is not really a recommendation per say just letting you know these are still purchasable games and they have no relation to Namco other than also being classics.

Ok, I know haters gonna hate, and there'll be remaster jokes and all that, but I'm all for this.

Some of the joys of parenting are sharing things from your childhood with your kids. Books, TV shows, toys you saved. But with old arcade classics, you can't do that. There are no more cabinets at the Five and Ten. But with this? Cool.

It's going to be cool to play Dig Dug with my boys.
