The fifth short is on the way.

After a break that coincided with the game's launch, Blizzard is just about ready to launch the next Overwatch animated short.

Bastion gets the spotlight in this latest video, though judging by the previous ones, you can likely expect to see a few other members of the game's roster in there, too. The video, entitled The Last Bastion, premieres next Thursday, August 18. Here's how Blizzard describes it:

"The Last Bastion tells the origin story of the inquisitive transforming robot, Bastion. In this episode, we follow the forgotten battle automaton as it unexpectedly reactivates after laying dormant in the wilderness for over a decade. Fascinated by its unfamiliar surroundings, the curious omnic begins to investigate, but quickly discovers its core combat programming may have a different directive..."

The video will premiere on August 18 at 9 AM PT. It will be shown at Blizzard's Gamescom booth and streamed online at the same time. Check back with GameSpot then to watch it.

The Last Bastion's debut is just part of Blizzard's plans for Gamescom, which also include Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm tournaments. Ahead of the show's start, it will release a preview video that features "some new game content." It didn't offer any specifics beyond that. You can look for that on Tuesday, August 16.

The Last Bastion is Overwatch's fifth animated short following those focused on Winston, Tracer/Widowmaker, Hanzo/Genji, and Soldier 76. Blizzard has also expanded the game's lore through comics and has a graphic novel on the way.
