The Summer Games event brings a new "faster, more chaotic" version of Lucioball.

Developer Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Overwatch's Summer Games event starts today on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The event will run until August 26.

The headlining feature is the brand-new game mode Lucioball Remix. This "faster, more chaotic" version of the popular game mode introduces multiple balls players have to contend with. In addition to the two balls already in play, bonus balls worth three points will periodically spawn throughout the game. There's also a new mercy rule, wherein the game will end if one team has a 10-point lead. Furthermore, two maps see some changes with Lucioball Remix's introduction: Busan has new pillars and surfaces for more wall-riding opportunities, while Sydney gets more jump pads and wall-riding surfaces for enhanced maneuverability.

The traditional Lucioball game mode also gets some updates with the Summer Games event. Players can now plunge toward the ground by crouching in midair, and there are new gamepad rumble vibrations for goal-scoring moments. Lucio sees a few adjustments, including decreased cooldowns, increased movement speed, and extended range for on Boop and Punch. Jump pads launch players higher and there's a new mercy rule, in which the game ends if one team has a 5-point lead.

No Overwatch content drop would be complete without new cosmetics to unlock, and the Summer Games event packages several new skins for a few heroes, including Brigitte, Doomfist, and more. There are also new emotes, highlight intros, player icons, and sprays to get, which you can check out below.

In other Overwatch news, a few heroes have seen some adjustments recently. Popular hitscan character McCree had his noose spray replaced by a "bad luck"-emblazoned horseshoe, while a recent patch is testing out some changes for Support hero Moira.
