Blizzard recently changed the name of one of its most popular Overwatch heroes. McCree has been officially re-dubbed Cole Cassidy, but Overwatch has always put a lot of focus on its story and lore, so it will be using an upcoming Dark Horse comic to go into deeper detail about the character.

The Dark Horse digital comic series Overwatch: New Blood will take place across five parts, explaining the journey of Cassidy to find a new crew. It's being written by Ray Fawkes and illustrated by Irene Koh. You can check out a preview of the cover and first two pages below. As you can see, Cole is still a man of few words.

Cassidy's name change came in light of an ongoing harassment suit against Activision Blizzard, since the character's old name, McCree, was associated with a former employee. Blizzard has also set a new policy of no longer naming characters after employees. The studio announced a new narrative arc for Cassidy as well, which was delayed out of September. It appears this comic is a part of that narrative.

Activision Blizzard also recently announced it would be delaying the release of Overwatch 2, along with Diablo 4. The announcement pushes it out of the FY2022 window, which means it probably won't release until at least April 2023. We will get a glimpse of it before then, though, as the Overwatch League will be playing on an early build of Overwatch 2 starting next spring.
