Viacom, Simon & Schuster Interactive, and Sumthing Else Musicworks have today released details on the music tracks that will be appearing in Outlaw Volleyball, which will be released for the Xbox later this month. It's also been announced today that the soundtrack for the game, which is being executive produced by Nile Rodgers, will be released on CD early next month.

Rodgers--who has previously worked with the likes of Madonna, David Bowie, Diana Ross, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Duran Duran, Sting, Jeff Beck, and INXS--sees the game as a great opportunity to showcase up-and-coming musical talent, and tracks confirmed for inclusion in the game to date include the following:

Avoid One Thing - "Yakisoba"
Bumblefoot - "Meat"
Cathy-Ann - "I Have Arrived"
Diffuser - "Get It On"
DJ Ashba - "Feel This"
DJ Ashba - "Who I Am"
D.S.U. - "Ain't No Love"
D.S.U. - "Put Some Weight on It"
Hot Rod Circuit - "Now or Never"
Junk - "Life Is Good"
Madcap - "Bright Lights, Big City"
Off By One - "On My Way"
Off By One - "Punk Rock Girl"
Snow Dogs - "Popstars (Love This)"
The Carnies Deluxe - "Speed Kills"
The Exit - "Scream and Shout"
Waterdown - "Picketline"
Warrior - "Hustlerz Inc. (Ballers)"

"With today's new audiences spending more and more time playing video games, it only seemed logical to team up with the labels and create an original soundtrack," said Peter von Schlossberg, vice president of marketing and sales for Viacom's Simon & Schuster Interactive unit. "Together with Nile, we took it a step further using Outlaw Volleyball as a vehicle to break new music rather than just to create a compilation soundtrack of published songs."

Samples from many of the tracks that will be included in Outlaw Volleyball can be downloaded from the game's official Web site. For more information on Outlaw Volleyball, which is being developed by Hypnotix, check out our previous coverage of the game.
