Today during the Pokemon Nintendo Direct, The Pokemon Company confirmed one further detail about the new versions of classic Pokemon games Red, Blue, and Yellow. It was revealed that all three will support the paid Pokemon Bank service, allowing you to bring your Pokemon from those games to the just-announced Pokemon Sun/Moon when it is released later this year.
Due to "certain limitations" it is recommended that players install Red, Blue, and Yellow on the same 3DS as the one where Pokemon Bank is, The Pokemon Company said in a statement. Additionally, the developer explained that Pokemon from Red, Blue, and Yellow cannot be moved to Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire and X/Y using Pokemon Bank. The new versions of Red, Blue, and Yellow will be released for 3DS through the eShop tomorrow, February 27. That is the 20th anniversary of the franchise, which debuted in Japan in 1996.
