Square Enix has made a significant push to capture Western gamers of late. In April 2009, Square Enix picked up British publisher Eidos, bringing such Western-oriented properties as Tomb Raider, Hitman, and Thief in-house. However, the publisher has also formed a number of partnerships with outside developers, signing on for Gas Powered Games' Supreme Commander 2 and handing over Front Mission Evolved to Irvine, California-based Double Helix.

It looks like Wargaming.net has stuck to the Western theater.

This week, Square Enix attached a date to the first Western-developed title that it will publish, Wargaming.net's Order of War. The World War II-based real-time strategy game will be available for the PC in North America on September 22.

Order of War presents both sides of the war in Europe, giving gamers the ability to control Allied and Axis forces during the pivotal summer of 1944. Players can command up to 1,000 units, consisting of ground troops, tanks, APCs, artillery, and aircraft. The game also offers two single-player campaigns, as well as online multiplayer modes.

A single-player demo for Order of War is available through the game's official Web site. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of the game.
