The AMD Professional Gamers League threw a launch party Monday at San Francisco's Candlestick Park. The fledgling league hopes to legitimize online gaming with big-money prizes and blue-chip sponsorship.

The PGL announced it had capitalized its prize pool to the tune of US$2 million, named Nolan Bushnell founding commissioner, and added Levi Strauss & Co to a growing list of sponsors.
