One-Day PS Plus Extension Codes to Make Up for PSN Outage Going Out Now

Everyone who had an active PlayStation Plus membership during the recent PSN outage is getting a one-day extension to their subscription, according to an email going out to users now.

GameSpot received this email today, January 15. Included in the email is unique code for an extension credit that must be redeemed by March 31, 2016 at 11:59 PST.

Once you redeem the code, the extension will be automatically applied to the end of your existing membership. Again, you needed to have an active PS Plus membership on the date of the service interruption, January 4, to be eligible for this extension.

"Thanks for your patience during the service interruption," Sony said in the email.

At press time, GameSpot could not confirm if extensions are also being offered to people with memberships to PlayStation Now and video rental services, though that does appear to be the case.

After the major Christmas 2014 outage, which dragged on for nearly a week, Sony offered users a five-day extension to their PlayStation-related subscriptions.

This month's PSN outage disrupted virtually all Sony services, from the PlayStation Store to online gameplay, across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. The downtime lasted roughly ten hours as Sony's engineer teams worked to bring the network back online. The compensation package was announced just hours after service was restored.
